How to get your business registered
If your looking for accounting software for your business in Ireland, and its just one of the many tasks you have on your list, you might have already looked at getting your business registered with the companies registration office. The first thing to consider is your structure. Should you go Sole Trader, Partnership or company? Getting the job done is a case of finding anĀ Accountant or Solicitor to get you registered, or by contacting a company formations agency.
If you intend to trade in Ireland you are required to register your business with the company registrations office by law. There are a number of different structures you can consider.
Sole Trader:
Registering as a sole trader suites many types of firms. For example, a plumber who does not require limited liability and does not hold any stock would consider registering with the companies registration office as a sole trader. however, the name has no protection, and you are personally liable for the debts within the business.
Partnership:
Similar structure as a Sole Trader but with more than one person. Agreements are required to be drawn up by a Lawyer, but you are not legally required to do this. It is however highly recommended.
Limited Company:
A limited company carries limited liability which means as the linked article explains, limits the liability of the companies debts to the amount the subscribers have invested in the company. The company becomes the legal entity. This protects compliant Directors and shareholders. The name of the company is also protected in Ireland on the CRO register.
Once your business is registered you are provided with a number which you are required to enter into your Bookkeeping software.
